TMJ Evaluation

Neuromuscular dentistry focuses on severe jaw misalignment problems and how they affect your teeth, nerves and muscles.

Specifically, these problems stem from TMD – Temporomandibular Joint Disorder – which also goes by the name TMJ syndrome. Your TMJ connects your jaw to your skull.

This can become inflamed or misaligned for a variety of reasons, and can be exacerbated by such activities as nail biting, sleeping on your stomach, eating large-sized bites of food, and excessive clenching or grinding of the teeth.

Treatment for TMJ

The Temporo Mandibular Joint connects the lower jaw with the skull.

Many patients have pain in this region.

The source of this pain is either in the joint itself or the surrounding muscle structure.

Our Doctors are able to assess the source of discomfort or pain and have had great success in treating the muscular component of the TMJ.
